North Macedonia’s second-largest city, Bitola is located in the country’s far-southwest, just 15 kilometers shy of the border with Greece. Its history dates back to the 4th century BC when Philip II of Macedon founded a settlement here. He called it Heraclea Lyncestis, a name that’s still associated with Bitola today. While in Bitola we will visit The Heraclea Lyncestis archaeological site, the Old Bazaar that stretches out along the Dragor river, Byzantine churches and heritage buildings.
